Actor FAQ

What is my role in the company?
-If you are a touring actor you will go through a rehearsal process, financial training, driving and auto maintenance training as well as minor technical training.

-If you are a standby actor you will do everything a touring actor does except you reside at the headquarters during the tour. You will also have additional duties including arts administration and box office work. You are essentially the understudy in case an actor needs to come off tour.

How long is the rehearsal period?
-Our rehearsal periods are 3 weeks long for 2 shows at the same time.

How many tour partners will I have?
-Each tour consists of 2 actors. Depending on the season we can have up to 4 tours.

What can I learn from working here?
-In addition to getting the chance to perform across the country, our actors have walked away gaining a great deal of experience in many areas. Touring actors have learned how to maintain a budget while on the road, what touring life is like, what responsibilities you gain such as vehicle maintenance and publicity for the company. Our intern/standby actors learn a great deal about arts administration and box office duties. Some of our interns in the past have been in charge of or studied marketing, social media, fundraising, grant writing and advertisement.

Where am I housed during rehearsal period?
-During the rehearsal period you will live at our headquarters which is a 1776 farmhouse in New Hampshire. Male and female sleeping quarters are separated and you share 2 bathrooms. Actors will share rooms with multiple people before tours go out. Meals are provided for you every night. After tours go out the standby actors get their own rooms. For Actors With Allergies: there are up to 4 dogs and 3 cats that live at the farm.

What’s the food like?
-Depending on the season the selection of food may vary. From spring to fall we maintain an organic garden where a lot of our produce and herbs come from. In the winter season a majority of the food harvested from before has been canned or frozen. We are very accommodating to any diet and allergies.

Where am I housed on tour?
-You and your tour partner will share a van and a hotel room. We require that the rooms have separate beds and that the hotel is in a safe area.
