Performing arts company brings act to local elementary, middle schools

COLUMBUS — Brodie McGuire flapped his arms and cawed like a crow.

He made a circle around Sarah Goosmann before returning to his place. Then Bryar Meyer performed a special rabbit dance, and Carson Fuchser showed off a secret fox handshake.

The three St. Anthony Elementary School students were all playing impromptu, bit parts in a play put on at the school Wednesday by the Hampstead Stage Company.

The Haunted Woods

We finally have a place to call home! In July 2008, we received a generous donation of a black box theatre right here in our hometown of Barnstead, New Hampshire. Originally a lodge for the community ski hill in Barnstead, many of our patrons may remember learning to ski at this very location! Over the past ten years, the lodge has served as a summer take-out seafood and ice cream restaurant under several different names and owners. Even today, when the snow flies, it is still a wonderful site to see children and their parents sledding down the former Barnstead ski hill. When Hampstead Stage Company acquired the ski lodge last summer, the community of Barnstead sprang into action, volunteering their time and money to help us build a stage and paint the interior of the theatre. On August 8, 2008, through generous donations from ACE Hardware, OSG Paintball Park, St. Anselm’s College, and numerous individuals, we opened the Hampstead Theatre for the first time with a performance of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. We continued with three more performances for children to packed houses throughout August 2008. In the summer of 2009, we will be offering

2-3 full-length plays and musicals (to be announced soon!) for adults and children each weekend throughout the months of July and August. Join us this summer to start a tradition of a night at the theatre in Barnstead!

The 2008 Haunted Woods Fundraiser!

Join us for our 3rd annual Haunted Woods. Come for a frightful guided tour through the NH woods. This year's fundraiser will scare the pants off you! Make this the one Halloween event you attend! Donate to the Hampstead Stage Company and nearly be scared to death!

Open to all ages. Parental discretion advised.
