For Actors

We employ actors and actresses from all over the country. We attend the Unified Professional Theatre Auditions in Memphis, TN, Southeastern Theatre Conference in the southeast, and New England Theatre Conference in Natick, MA each spring. We also hold private auditions around the country and accept videotaped auditions. There are certain qualities in an actor/actress that we search for. Due to the uniqueness of what we do and how we do it, each candidate must be judged on several criteria. The performer needs to show a high level of talent, integrity, and the ability to work well with directors and fellow actors. Anyone who wishes to step upon our stage must take pride in their craft. We also require the actor to be well organized, focused, and up to the rigours of touring. It is the performer that is truly the representative of the company to the general public.

For all the above reasons, we tend to have very high standards. We endeavor not only to entertain, but to educate. The company uses works of classical literature and their adaptations. The theatrical philosophy is to use truth, honesty, and realism to bring these performances to life for an audience largely unfamiliar with being a participant in this experience, rather than a passive viewer. We play highest common denominator theatre. We never talk down to our audiences or assume, misguidedly, that we know at what level true understanding occurs.

By bringing great works of literature to life, we promote an interest in reading the classics and thus, ensuring and developing appreciation of good theatre, keeping it alive for future generations.
